Tonight I had to opportunity spend time with a wonderful group of people, my writing family. When I began this journey, I had no idea the amazing people I would cross paths with, or that I would find so many dear friends along the way.
I’ve often been called an odd duck, never really fit in with my peers in high school. I preferred the company of my teachers, most only a few years older than myself, over that of my fellow students.
Books were always my best friends. I’m certain I read every single volume in our school library, and many more on top of that.
There is still nothing like the thrill of opening a new book and losing yourself inside the cover. Words have so much power. Over the years they taught me, comforted me, consoled me. They have given me strength and courage.
And now, they are bringing me the most incredible people in the world. Writers. By far the most supportive and generous group of individuals I have ever had the pleasure to know.
I am so grateful for the people my writing has brought into my life.
